“At the centre of non-violence stands the principle of love”— these words by Nobel Peace Prize winner Martin Luther King echoes what we stand for. Interestingly, the word Ahimsa is derived from the Sanskrit root hims – to strike; himsā is injury or harm, a-himsa is the opposite of this—to cause no injury, do no harm.
As the name suggests, The Ahimsa Festival is an annual festival founded by like-minded individuals with an aim to spreading the sweet fragrance of peace and love through simple lifestyle choices. It aims at empowering individuals by making them realize the power they have in bringing about a real change in the world. By educating people and encouraging them to embrace veganism and refrain from using animal products like leather and fur, we set the stage for ahimsak individuals who further spread the message to their families, and the domino effect continues!
Now in its second year, The Ahimsa Festival has grown by leaps and bounds. Our Opening Ceremony will be inaugurated by Ms Maneka Gandhi on 26th October, 2017 with Dr Will Tuttle, award-winning author of ‘World Peace Diet’ and Dr Nandita Shah, founder of SHARAN and recipient of the Nari Shakti Award this year from the Honorable President of India will address the audience.
The 18-day festival (October 26 to November 12, 2017) will have more than 100 events all over the city including Ahimsa Walks, Cooking Demos, Seminars, Workshops, Farmers Markets, Fashion Show, Film Screenings and Kid’s Activities! It is exhilarating to note the number of people from all walks of life, offering The Ahimsa Festival their unconditional support and encouragement.
Through this complete package that provides information, entertainment, and a great platform for family and friends to bond, the festival is a must-attend for all who are on the side of love, peace and ahimsa.
