APD Group event at Cuff Parade on 28 April was a melting pot for healthy food, fitness, business networking and social exchange.
The potluck event hosted by Kajal Thadani and Suresh Thadani, who had thrown open their sea-facing apartments at Cuff Parade, Mumbai on 28 April 2018 for all. Professionals and entrepreneurs, businessmen, fitness enthusiasts, marathon runner, filmmaker, speakers and chefs and others from various streams across the city were a glimpse into the profiles of some of the guests who arrived with sumptuous home-cooked dairy-free treats.
The guests started off with coconut water as a welcome drink before proceeding to other dishes. Pani Puri by Rajni Agarwal made for tasty appetizers. The table presented a broad range of styles ranging from raw like moongdal kosambari–a South-Indian specialty–by Mukta Hiremath and assorted salads. Other mouth-watering dished were burrito bowl, as well as dairy free pasta, quinoa pulao and cucumber raita in peanut curds. Other regional specialties like aaloo-vadi, a Punjabi dish, added some variety to the offerings. As the hungry participants made a beeline for the feasts around the table, what turned heads was the oreo puddling by Shilpa Gupta and chocolate & rose cupcakes by Bhavika Baldia, that were as much a delight to look as they were to eat. One of the favourites were groundnut chaas and the showstopper was cookies and cream ice-cream By Sameer Pasad of Vegan Bites.
Many were new to the group and introductions were done. Delicious food is always a great ice-breaker, and people crowded around the table to inquire about recipes of the dishes. Some were old friends, who caught up with each other during such meetups. The conversations sparked over various subjects and the mood was warm and merry. The tastefully done up interiors of the Thadanis played its part in turning a regular potluck into a warm social exchange.
Said Host, Suresh Thadani, who was hosting such an event for the first time, “As a foodie, I was surprised how delicious some of the vegan foods look like. Also, it was endearing to see such warmth from people; the way they connected with each other.
